CKI and WSK announce key appointments

The Championship Karting International program and WSK North America are pleased to announce key personnel in high profile positions at both series. Joining both the Florida Cup and WSK North America Series will be the new Head Technical Inspector and long-time industry member Don Moormeister. Joining Moormeister will be veteran flagman Matt Long as he will transfer to the Race Director position.

“Both Don and Matt are very well known and respected in the industry and bring a lot of experience to the series," stated Director of Operations Kevin Williams. “These two members will be key players within the series and will start at the first event at the Homestead/Miami Speedway in January."

Moormeister comes to the CKI program with years of experience in a variety of different series. With a knack for technical inspection, the Idaho resident has seen it all when it comes to the difference in motors.

“I am very happy to join the CKI and WSK program," stated Moormeister via phone interview from his home in Idaho. “The series is gaining momentum and 2010 looks bright for the series. I am happy that I can be part of this program as the series grows."

Joining Moormeister will be veteran Chief Starter Matt Long. The Indianapolis based resident will trade his flags in for a spotting tower in the infield as he will be the ears and the eyes of all on track activity. As a series official from the very first event, Long trained part of the 2009 season as the Assistant Race Director and will now move into the head position as he looks to keep the peace and safety for all on track sessions.

“The Race Director position is something that I have been working towards since I began working in karting," expressed Matt Long. “I started off as a racer, corner worker and then head flagman for the national program. Last year was my first stint as the Assistant Race Director, and I really enjoyed the position. When I was offered the full-time Race Director program, I jumped at the opportunity."

The Championship Karting and WSK North America Series is happy to have both Don Moormeister and Matt Long as part of the family.

The Championship Karting International program and WSK North America Series will next see action with their first annual CKI Florida Cup presented by Supertune USA and DFR. With the program taking place at the Homestead Karting Center just south of Miami, Florida, the Florida Cup Series will award more than $130,000.00 in cash and prizes including a brand new Mazda 3.
