Carlin confirm Vergne for British F3

Jean-Eric Vergne

Red Bull Junior driver Jean-Eric Vergne will race for British F3 champions Carlin in 2010. The Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup runner-up will join the most successful team in British F3 history as he attempts to follow in the footsteps of fellow Red Bull drivers and F3 champions Jaime Alguersuari and Daniel Ricciardo. The 19 year-old Frenchman raced in the competitive Formula Renault Eurocup championship this year, taking nine podiums, including four race wins, four pole positions and two fastest laps.

Vergne has already tested with his new team at Brands Hatch and Oulton Park and impressed the team with his ability to adapt to the F3 car and two of Britain’s most challenging circuits.

Speaking about his new team, Vergne said, “I'm lucky to be driving for Carlin; a very competitive team which doesn't need any further introduction! There will be a lot to learn next year, I will have to get to grips with a new category, learn new circuits and also learn a new way of working. I think that all these factors will make me a more complete driver. Having said that, I feel that with good preparation – which has already begun – and a competitive car, I'll be able to take the fight to the best right from the start."
