Webber to start last in Japan

(GMM) Mark Webber will be missing from qualifying at Suzuka after crashing in the Saturday morning practice session.

His Red Bull Racing team have run out of time to repair the damage to his Renault powered car, after he ended up in the barriers at the Degner curve towards the end of the 1 hour session.

It is likely the damage is so serious that the team will build up a new RB5 for the Australian, meaning he will start Sunday's Japanese grand prix from the pitlane.

The news all but ends Red Bull's already slim hopes of staying in the hunt for the constructors' championship.

"What was a hill has become a mountain to climb. It's not great in that respect. But the main thing is he wasn't injured and he'll be able to race tomorrow," team boss Christian Horner told the BBC.
