Carfax sponsors their first Cup race
Carfax will be the title sponsor of its first-ever NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, the CARFAX 400, on Sunday, Aug. 16. The event follows the NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250 race on Saturday, Aug. 15 as part of the “Show Me the CARFAX Race Weekend" at MIS.
The doubleheader marks the first time MIS has had a corporate partner who is sponsoring both NASCAR events on the same weekend, strengthening its ties with arguably one of the best partners in motorsports, track President Roger Curtis said.
“This extended relationship with Carfax demonstrates the strength of MIS and Carfax," Curtis said. “Carfax is a proven and trusted leader in providing vehicle history reports to consumers, but now has the entitlement rights to an entire weekend of NASCAR racing at one of the premier speedways in the country. Race fans will have a spectacular time at MIS during the Show Me the Carfax Race Weekend."
With sponsorship of both NASCAR events at MIS in August, Carfax continues its support of the home of the American automobile and its ongoing investment in Michigan-based sports. Carfax has sponsored the NASCAR Nationwide Series at MIS for the past three years, and has been a playoff sponsor of the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings.
“We can’t wait to drop the green flag on the Show Me the CARFAX Race Weekend," said Dick Raines, president of Carfax. “The CARFAX 400 is a natural extension of our relationship with MIS. The staff at Michigan is second-to-none and the fans bring an energy and excitement to this venue that makes it the perfect setting for these races. We join our dealer customers in welcoming everyone to MIS for a history-making weekend of NASCAR racing."
The CARFAX 400 will be televised live starting at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, Aug. 16 on ESPN. Television coverage of the CARFAX 250 starts at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday, Aug. 15 on ESPN2.
Tickets for both races can be purchased by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010 or by logging on to www.MISpeedway.com.
