Q&A with Buddy Rice on future

Now: Grand-Am Rolex Series driver; businessman in Phoenix. Rice, a Phoenix native, owns Tony Kart West, a go-kart distributor for the western United States. He and three teammates won the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Rice is competing in the Grand-Am Rolex Series, which has five races remaining this season.

How do you like driving in the Grand-Am series?

"It's great. I've been driving Grand-Am for quite a few years, only normally ran Daytona at the start of the year and the Miller Motorsports Park) at the end because of the IndyCar Series. But this is good, I enjoy it; it's a lot of fun."

Is it a difficult transition to make?

"No, you see a lot of guys do it at Daytona. It's why so many champions from so many disciplines all get together. "

What about sharing the car?

"You're used to your own ways. You have to be quite flexible."

What are you plans for next season?

"Wait and see. There's a lot of things happening. I'm working on a couple different things. I'm not 100 percent sure right now, but I have a direction, an idea." AZcentral.com
