Strong start to Singapore GP ticket sales

Public grandstand sales for the 2009 FORMULA 1. SingTel Singapore Grand Prix opened today. This first release consisted of all grandstands except the Bay Grandstand and Walkabout tickets. As of 18:00 hours local time, 20.7% of available tickets had been taken up. The most popular grandstands were the Pit, Padang and Connaught.

The vast majority of sales have come through the improved on-line booking system, authorized overseas sales agents and the hotline call centre. The SISTIC Box Office, at the Indoor Stadium reported relatively low volumes of walk-up customers.

"We are encouraged by the strong response and pleased that the early bird prices are popular with race fans. The improvements to the ticketing system and call centre have ensured that no major transaction issues were reported today," said Michael Roche, Executive Director of Singapore GP.

Given the strong response today we will also be releasing the grandstand at Turn 3 along with Walkabout and Bay Grandstand tickets on 20 April. This grandstand had been on hold pending its realignment to maximize viewing opportunities after the changes to Pit Exit which were announced earlier. The three-day season passes for Turn 3 Grandstand will be priced at S$988 for early bird buyers of the first 50% of tickets sold and S$1188 for regular 2009 rates.
