Montezemolo gives Ferrari team vote of confidence

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo expressed his confidence in the Team, trusting the Scuderia to have the capacity to react after the troubled weekend in Australia. Montezemolo spoke to journalists at the presentation of Arrigo Levi’s book “Un paese non basta" this morning at the Modena city hall.

Montezemolo couldn’t avoid talking again about the Melbourne GP’s outcome and the outlook for the race in Sepang, on the race calendar on the upcoming weekend.

“On a more normal circuit I expect to see the real balance of power on the track," the President said. “The first race went worse than expected: there’s no doubt that we, just like McLaren, are paying for the fact that we had to work on the 2008 car right until the end of the season, while the others could completely concentrate on the project of the new car, which has nothing to do with the old one. We made too many mistakes at Melbourne, but I’m convinced, I’m sure, that there will be a tough reaction from our side. I trust the Team and I know that they are working very hard: we’ll see the fruits already on next Sunday."

Montezemolo also spoke about the discussions as far as the diffusers, used by three teams, are concerned, while the F1’s governing body will decide on 14th April in Paris…

“I want certainty. It’s not right to start a season with question marks as far as the rules are concerned. If the diffusers are conform to the rules it has to be said and decided as soon as possible, but we and other teams don’t think so; or they are not conform to the rules and also in this case it has to be clear fastest possible. Who interprets the rules not in line with them, creates a performance inequality, which is unacceptable."
