Australian GP: Record small crowd

F1's season-opening Melbourne Grand Prix will begin at 5:00pm local time, a move "aimed at generating bigger ticket sales and a larger international television audience" as the event faces the possibility of its lowest-ever four-day attendance. Thursday's preliminary action drew a crowd of 42,300 fans, the "smallest so far," and officials "took the unprecedented step" of withholding Friday's attendance numbers until 8:00am Saturday.
