USF1 Press Conference on SPEED Tuesday

UPDATE #2 A reminder that this press conference will be aired live today on SPEED at noon ET.

02/23/09 SPEED will interrupt regularly scheduled programming tomorrow (Tuesday) at noon ET to broadcast a USF1 press conference from the SPEED studios in Charlotte, N.C. The press conference will be hosted by veteran motor sports broadcaster Bob Varsha, with USF1 Technical Director Ken Anderson and USF1 consultant Peter Windsor on-site.

Anderson, who worked for the Ligier and Onyx F1 teams in the 1980s, before becoming a successful designer and engineer – most notably with former IndyCar chassis constructor G-Force, is the designer and builder of the Concord-based Windshear rolling wind tunnel. Windsor, a former Formula One team manager, currently serves as a F1 pit reporter for SPEED broadcasts.

Racing legends Mario Andretti and Dan Gurney will participate via taped interviews and phone.

02/23/09 A live press conference will be held on the SPEED channel on Tuesday, February 24 at noon ET/9:00 am PT for the first official public announcement of the new USF1 team.

The conference will include a feature on the history of American involvement in Formula 1. Principal Peter Windsor and Technical Director Ken Anderson will be present, and there will be a phone-in interview with Mario Andretti, comments from American racing legend Dan Gurney, and Q&A with the press.
