100-day Bahrain Grand Prix countdown begins

One hundred days remain until the sixth edition of the Gulf Air Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix. The kingdom's most highly anticipated annual event takes place between April 24 and 26 at the Bahrain International Circuit.

The BIC yesterday announced the 100-day countdown starting today.

Preparations for the Grand Prix are already underway, and the BIC promises an even bigger and better weekend than those in the past, with high levels of entertainment for all the family both on and off the track.

This year's race will be the fourth round of the F1 World Championship, with events in Australia, Malaysia, and China leading up to the kingdom's showcase.

"With just 100 days to go until our sixth hosting of Formula One, the excitement is beginning to build and both private individuals and the business community are starting to purchase tickets," said BIC chief executive Martin Whitaker.

"Last year's race was a sellout, and we are looking forward to seeing the venue full again in April. There is always a lot to do in arranging such a spectacular event, but we are well on top of it and receiving a great deal of support from the whole community.

"F1 is the pinnacle of world motorsport, and so many people here in Bahrain and throughout the region have the Grand Prix weekend marked in their diaries months ahead of the event."
