ALMS team Tafel Racing closes doors

The Tafel Racing Ferrari team, which came close to winning the 2008 American Le Mans Series GT2 championship, has closed its doors.

Team technical director Tony Dowe told AutoWeek, "It is indicative of the current financial situation globally and in North America that the ability of a team that had such a successful 2008 to attract sponsorship is virtually non-existent," said Dowe, who ran the TWR Jaguar team's U.S. operation in the late 1980s and early '90s, and then Panoz's sports-car effort.
