Richmond lowers prices on worst seats in the house

Richmond International Raceway announced Friday a ticket price restructuring of more than 18,000 tickets for its Henrico Grandstand, beginning when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to the track in May.

Tickets on sale for the May 2 Cup race and other future events will reflect the new ticket price restructuring, according to a track press release. Rows 1 through 5 of the Henrico Grandstand are now $40 per ticket and rows 6 through 15 are now $55 per ticket. The new prices reflect a 50 and 25 percent decrease, respectively, from the prices for the May 2008 Cup weekend, according to the release.

“We have the best, most loyal fans in sports," said Richmond president Doug Fritz. “We recognize that times are tough and we want to offer our fans a lower entry point to be able to continue to enjoy the thrill of live NASCAR racing."

Fans currently seated in areas affected by the price restructuring have been contacted by raceway officials. Others interested in relocating to the Henrico Grandstand can do so by calling 866-455-7223.
