Mid-Ohio announcer dies

Walter "Scotty" Scott, a cornerstone of the Mid-Ohio Sports Course announcing team, died Oct. 18th. He was 61. Known as the "Voice of the Esses," Scott's calls informed fans of the action at the end of Mid-Ohio's back straight and as drivers fought for position through turns seven, eight, nine and 10 as cars drove under the Honda bridge and out of his sight through turn 11.

U.S. Navy veteran Scott was employed by Enterprise Rental and worked at Mid-Ohio as an announcer for 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Miller; sons, Zachary Scott, Joshua Scott, Andrew (Amy) Miller, Joseph (Kathleen Cline) Miller, Daniel Miller, Robert Miller; two sisters, Cindy (Gary) Schlaegel and Melinda Butler; two brothers and six grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
