Heavy rain expected in Sao Paulo
It was drizzling at the Interlagos circuit, located outside downtown Sao Paulo, as thousands of fans filed through the gates hours before the 3pm local start time.
There were dry periods until late morning, but an 80 per cent chance of heavy showers is forecast for the period of the Brazilian grand prix.
It has been an intense build-up to the season finale, with even British prime minister Gordon Brown weighing in to wish his compatriot Lewis Hamilton well.
F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone neatly summarized the likely outcome of the 71-lap race.
"Felipe will win the race, Lewis will win the title because he has that seven point lead, doesn't he? The mathematics favor him all the way through, don't they?" he said.
