Gibernau thrilled to be back

Sete Gibernau made his official return to the world of Moto GP at Valencia on Monday when he completed his first day of testing for his newly formed Ducati Satellite team, Onde 2000 on board the Desmosedici GP8.

Sete has been out of the series since 2006 and his anticipated return was confirmed at Valencia over the weekend and he couldn’t wait to test on the Spanish track for the first time in three years, even if he was a little off the pace compared to his new colleagues.

“All the other riders are too fast for me to follow at the moment!" he told the sports official website. “They are all pretty sure of what they are doing, and I´m not yet. I´m still in need of learning what I have to do to get this bike fast; I´m not scared, but I’ve got a lot of respect for what everyone is doing in this championship."

“I was so excited to be back again. It’s been three years since I last rode at Valencia, which is a big gap, but I enjoyed it a lot. We’re good professionals and have put a very good group together, but we need to work at some tests to see how to work best with each other. I´m going to bring all my experience and know-how and try to get us up to speed in the fastest possible way."

Sete’s best time for day one was 1´34.451, less than a second behind 2008 champion, Valentino Rossi with a 1:33.550. Gibernau will continue testing here today.
