Conquest Racing to Partner with Zytek, Team LNT at Petit Le Mans

After taking on a new project in the IndyCar Series this season, Conquest Racing will now be taking on a second one as it makes its first foray into the world of sports car racing. The open-wheel team announced today that it will be present at Petit Le Mans on October 4 by providing Zytek and Team LNT with personnel, engineering and logistical support.

Team LNT, who is making its American Le Mans return and first appearance in prototype competition in North America, announced last week that it was entering a Ginetta-Zytek LMP1 car in the 1000-mile / 10-hour race which takes place at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. The car will be driven by Danny Watts and a second driver still to be announced.

While this will be Conquest’s first venture into the American Le Mans Series, the team is hoping to learn as much as they can about it with hopes of eventually having a bigger presence in the series in the near future.

“We’re very pleased to support and help the LNT Zytek Group for the Petit Le Mans race," expressed Eric Bachelart, Conquest Racing team owner. “We are definitely looking to get involved in the American Le Mans Series in 2009 on top of our IndyCar Series program and this is a great opportunity to learn about the series from the inside."

Petit Le Mans powered by the Totally New MAZDA6 from Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia takes place on October 4 with live coverage on SPEED starting at 11:00 a.m. eastern time. The race is scheduled to start at 11:15 a.m. eastern time and will also air live on XM Satellite Radio on Channel 166. The 1000-mile/10 hour event is the 10th round of the 2008 American Le Mans Series.
