China recalls its podium stars
The pair are notable in that they have been behind the wheel when China has secured its two podium finishes to date in A1GP, with Tung taking third in Sydney in 2007, and Cheng finishing a famous third on home soil in Zhuhai early in Season Three.
Both drivers will race at some point this season, with Tung getting the nod to be recalled to race in the opening round at Zandvoort on 5 October. However, no driver choice has been announced beyond that round, which means the honor of being A1 Team China driver at their home race, A1GP Chengdu on November 9 is up for grabs.
“It is great to bring these two talented Chinese drivers together in A1 Team China," said vice president Steven Lu.
“We have much more confidence in the new A1GP season, and would like to win more trophies and pride back to China. We Chinese people surprised the world in the Beijing Olympic Games, and we believe we can do the same in A1GP."
