Kilpatrick loses Penske’s support

Add Roger Penske to the list of prominent people who want Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to quit.

Penske, a Detroit-area businessman, is on Belle Isle this weekend for Grand Prix races. He tells radio station WWJ that it's time Kilpatrick "moves on and takes another role in his life."

Penske has worked closely with Kilpatrick on many projects, especially the 2006 Super Bowl.

Kilpatrick faces 10 criminal charges in two cases. The Detroit City Council also wants Gov. Jennifer Granholm to remove him from office.

In an interview Friday, Penske told WWJ that Kilpatrick at times has done an outstanding job as mayor. But he says, "It's unfortunate that the personal things have gotten in his way."
