Reutimann to return to Michael Waltrip Racing

David Reutimann has had his option picked up by Michael Waltrip Racing for next season, and now he’s looking for the team to continue its progress.

“It gives you one less thing to worry about," Reutimann said Friday at Michigan International Speedway. “Now you can concentrate on finishing out the year."

“We just need to continue to build – this is a deal that is still a work in progress," Reutimann said. “We’ll keep thrashing on things and doing things at the shop that we need to do.

“This is one of our newest cars here. It’s a lot lighter. That’s a step in the right direction rather than just trying to get to the race track every week just starting to build stuff and refine it and make it better. If we can continue to do that during the remainder of the year and pick back up a little bit, [and start] getting more consistent and finish out on a high note, we can roll into Daytona locked in [the top 35 in owners points] and go from there."
