Update on crew member run over by Danica Patrick

UPDATE #2 Medical update from Dr. Michael Olinger, IRL senior director of medical services: After further evaluation, Dale Coyne Racing crew member Charles Buckman will be kept at Methodist Hospital for observation.

05/11/08 Dale Coyne Racing crewman Charles Buckman, injured when he was hit by Danica Patrick's car on pit lane Friday, was transferred from intensive care into a standard room Saturday at Methodist Hospital. He suffered a skull fracture and bleeding near his brain.

05/10/08 Dale Coyne Racing Crew Chief Chuck Buckman (#19 Sonny's Bar B-Q) was injured Friday afternoon when he was hit from behind by Danica Patrick's front wing while walking in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway pit during practice.

Buckman was initially unconscious after being hit, but regained consciousness and was alert at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Infield Care Center before being taken to Methodist Hospital for CAT scans to check for any internal injuries.

"I really don't remember how it happened," said Dale Coyne Racing Crew Chief Chuck Buckman. "All I remember was talking with someone on Marco Andretti's team and then everything is blank from that point. I will be OK and hopefully back to work in a day or two."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Chuck," said team owner Dale Coyne. "Hopefully he will be all right and we can get him back in our pit soon."

Buckman will spend Friday night in ICU at Methodist Hospital before undergoing another CAT scan Saturday morning.
