TV ratings for Texas Sprint Cup race slip

Ratings for Fox’s broadcast of last Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Texas were down 4 percent from a year ago, the first time this season a regularly scheduled Fox race broadcast has declined from last season.

Sunday’s race received a 5.4 rating, down from 5.6 a year ago, according to Nielsen Media Research.

By contrast, ESPN’s broadcast of last Saturday’s Nationwide Series race showed a 19 percent improvement over a year ago.

This year’s race received a 1.8 rating, up from last season’s 1.5 also shown on ESPN2
