Three more SuperV8 drivers hospitalized

Three more V8 racing drivers have been admitted to Royal Adelaide hospital in a second serious accident to mar this weekend's Clipsal 500.

A day after a high speed crash in V8 Supercars' second-tier Fujitsu series left 27-year-old Ashley Cooper on life support, V8 Ute drivers Matt Kingsley, Craig Dontas and Colin Corkery are under observation in hospital after a heavy crash on Sunday.

It is believed Kingsley is in the most serious condition but all three drivers are conscious. The crash happened at turn three, while Cooper's incident was at the fast turn eight.

Cooper, a 27-year-old from Ulladulla on the NSW south coast, crashed heavily into a concrete barrier at speeds believed to be above 200km/h on Saturday morning and was given an emergency tracheotomy to help him breathe.

He was then rushed to hospital by ambulance where he was treated for severe head trauma, swelling of the brain and internal injuries.

His wife Casey has flown from their NSW home to be at his bedside. They have two young children. Cooper's mother Maree and father Alan are also with him at the hospital. The entire crowd, drivers, pit crews and staff were asked to stand in silence as V8 Supercar chaplain Garry Coleman led a prayer dedicated to Cooper at 12.30pm local time on Sunday. The Age
