CARA Charities 27th Annual Fashion Show

May in Indianapolis brings fast cars, fans and the social event of the season…the 27th annual CARA Charities Fashion Show and Luncheon. On Thursday, May 22, the downtown Marriott will play host to this spectacular gathering for the first time.

The magnificent Mezzanine level ballroom will be the site as the fabulous fashions of Secret Ingredient take to the runway. Racing personalities as well as community notables will be models for a day. Charismatic anchor Scott Swan of WTHR-TV returns as the emcee. Also returning will be "First Ladies of Racing" Janet Guthrie and Lyn St. James. Lyn will be accompanied by her "Women in the Winner's Circle," young race car drivers who will be featured in the show.

Also in the spotlight will be The Cody Unser First Step Foundation. Cody participated in previous Fashion Shows as a youngster and is looking forward to returning. Cody has become a spokesperson for and an inspiration to those experiencing neuroimmunologic disorders and her Foundation is planning events in Indianapolis to help educate people about living with paralysis while remaining as independent as possible.

This year’s show will also partner with Riley Hospital for Children by supporting the Riley mission of improving the health and well being of Indiana’s children. “Riley Hospital for Children is excited to be a partner with CARA for this year’s fashion show. We are grateful that CARA will be donating a portion of the event’s proceeds to support Riley Hospital’s car seat program for children with special needs," said Maureen Manier, vice president of communications and marketing at Riley Children’s Foundation.

The highly popular show starts with an 11:30 a.m. social hour followed by the luncheon at 12:30. The fashion show begins at 1:30. Tickets are available through the CARA Charities office at 317- 299-2277 or at www.caracharities.org.

Last year’s show raised over $70,000 for local and national charities. Assisted by the support of sponsors, teams, drivers, members and race fans, CARA has donated more than $4 million dollars since their founding more than a quarter of a century ago. CARA focuses on helping children, hospitals, scholarship funds and ministries as well as charitable foundations assisting children.
