Pole Day Under the Lights at Chicagoland

Chicagoland Speedway announced today that it will kick off a new season of racing when the facility's newly added lights are turned on for the first time during this year's NASCAR Pole Day on Thursday, July 10. In addition to practice runs for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Pole Day is also scheduled to include practice and qualifying sessions for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Along with all of the on-track activity, Pole Day will also feature another Miller Lite Rock N' Racing Concert. Country music star and Pocahontas, Ill. native, Gretchen Wilson, will be performing a free concert at the track's Miller Lite Oasis at approximately 9 p.m. following NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying. An opening act is scheduled to start around 8 p.m. Large crowds are expected for Pole Day and the concert, so guests are encouraged to arrive early.

"Pole Day has always provided a great opportunity to jumpstart the excitement of our race weekend, but this year, that level of excitement will be amplified when we turn on the lights for the first time at Chicagoland Speedway," said Matthew Alexander, president of Chicagoland Speedway. "In addition to being a part of this inaugural ceremony, fans will also have the opportunity to enjoy a free concert after Cup qualifying, which should make for a very memorable experience."

Track Packs for Chicagoland Speedway's 2008 season, as well as tickets for Pole Day, go on sale to the general public on Monday, Feb. 18. Track Packs range in price from $195 to $260 and include admission to five (5) races over two (2) event weekends (see 2008 schedule listed below). General admission tickets to NASCAR Pole Day are $15 for adults; children age 12 and under are free.
