NJ Motorsports Park Unveils Plans For F1 Karting Center

Thunderbolt Raceway in New Jersey

Millville, N.J. and Boston, Mass.– New Jersey Motorsports Park recently released details on one of the most exciting venues under construction at the Millville racing center, announcing a partnership with RJ Valentine and his F1 Boston group to create F1 New Jersey, a high performance karting center. Valentine, who is a principle investor and partner in the NJMP complex, brings an experienced, highly successful team of kart industry veterans to the facility.

F1 New Jersey will feature multiple track configurations to provide different challenges to experienced racers and beginners alike, including the .48-mile Avenger, .53-mile Liberator and 1 mile-plus Tempest course. Each configuration requires a different approach and varying speeds, and will accommodate everything from 9-hp Rimo concession karts for beginners and corporate events to 50-hp, 130 mph shifter karts for advanced competitors.

Valentine currently operates two Boston-area karting venues – F1 Boston and F1 Outdoors – catering to corporate clients as well as kart enthusiasts, league racers and racing academy competitors. A third track, F1 Long Island, is currently under development. F1 Boston is a 106,000 square foot facility, featuring two indoor European-style kart tracks that entertain more than 450,000 people each year and has graduated more than 5,000 youngsters through its racing academy. Sister property F1 Outdoors’ 1.5-miles track features hairpin turns, banked turns and straight-aways that permit racers to reach maximum performance, all in a beautifully landscaped “Country Club" setting.

“Before building F1 Boston and F1 Outdoors, we visited the premier karting facilities in Europe to get ideas and consult with industry leaders," said Valentine. “We applied that knowledge and have been providing safe, fun, state-of-the-art racing to people from ages 7 to 70. Now, the opportunity to leverage that experience and build a ground up facility at New Jersey Motorsports Park is a thrill. This will be our best effort yet."

“These are no ordinary kart tracks like those at amusement parks. F1 New Jersey is a training ground for new racers; karting is a ‘ladder system’ for Motorsports. It’ll give the public a taste of the thrill of competitive racing. With twisting curves, daring turns and tempting straight-aways, even novice drivers will leave the track itching for more," he continued.

F1NJ will also offer another exciting configuration for a different type of racing vehicle. A ¼-mile paved oval is being designed as part of the karting center, catering to Legends-style cars. Legends cars are 5/8ths scale models of 1940s-era stock cars, and with more than 4000 manufactured in the United States since 1992, are an extremely popular type of racing vehicle.

F1 New Jersey will provide a range of karting activities for all levels of racers. The F1 New Jersey Karting Academy will introduce and educate beginners, from 7-year old Juniors to first-time adult racers, about safe racing and kart-control techniques. F1 New Jersey will also sanction and organize a series of kart racing leagues for differing age classifications and weight groups, as well as provide a compelling venue for corporate entertainment events.
