Zonta cleared to drive

The Proto-Auto test program with the new Lolas continued at Daytona International Speedway January 4-6, 2008, when Krohn Racing brought the two new Lola chassis for testing in preparation for the 2008 season.

Krohn Racing team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn, and teammates Eric van de Poele and Oliver Gavin, tested in the No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Lola. Nic Jönsson, Ricardo Zonta and Darren Turner tested in the No. 76 Krohn Racing Pontiac Lola.

Zonta's crashed Rolex 24 car

Ricardo Zonta had an off-track excursion on his second lap at the famous 3.56, 12-turn speedway road course and at the request of the team’s medical advisor, Dr. Vincenzo Tota, the Brazilian former Formula One driver went to the infield medical center and subsequently the local hospital for a CAT scan. After the test weekend Ricardo was cleared to fly. The Krohn Team has had many inquiries to his condition and is happy to report that, as of this morning, he has satisfactorily passed all the necessary tests and was cleared to drive for the race. Ricardo will resume his driving duties for both the Lola testing program and the 2008 race season with Krohn Racing.

The Krohn Racing team will return to Daytona International Speedway on January 24-27, 2008 with two Pontiac Rileys for the 46th annual running of the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the initial race for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. The team was not able to put the amount of miles on the new Lolas during the Daytona Test to sufficiently complete a satisfied test in order to run the 24-hour endurance race later this month.
