Toyota used Williams for ‘advice’ in 2008
Yoshiaki Kinoshita, Toyota executive vice-president, revealed in the outfit's annual motorsport report for 2007 that Sir Frank Williams was called upon for key advice last year.
Toyota also dipped into Williams' expertise in other areas, including for the development of its quick-shift gearbox for the TF107, it emerged in 2007.
Kinoshita said: "Team principal Frank Williams advised us on many occasions, particularly on matters concerning the politics that are so much a part of the F1 world.
"Benefiting from thirty years experience in F1, Frank Williams proved to be an excellent adviser for us and we are truly grateful for his contribution," he added.
Kinoshita also acknowledged Williams' help in developing Toyota's young driver program, including guiding Kazuki Nakajima through to his first full season of grand prix racing in 2008.
"Having learned so much from Williams regarding how to educate young drivers, we feel we made the correct decision to entrust Nakajima to the Williams team in 2007," he said.
