Glock free to race for Toyota in 2008

(GMM) Timo Glock is free to race for Toyota in 2008, the German media sources SID news agency and Bild-Zeitung newspaper reported on Friday.

It emerged earlier this month that the newly crowned GP2 champion, who tested for BMW-Sauber this season, was the subject of a tug-of-war between the two formula one teams.

But despite BMW claiming an ongoing contractual hold on the 25-year-old, the Contract Recognition Board has now apparently ruled that Glock is free to formalize his three-year deal with Toyota.

Toyota is yet to confirm the news, but the Cologne based team's president John Howett said recently: "We have a binding agreement with Glock.

"His management company and the lawyers believe that he is available," the Briton added.

Despite Jarno Trulli having a contract to stay at the team next year, the Glock news interestingly coincides with a report in the Spanish newspaper Marca that says Fernando Alonso's representatives this week met with Toyota chiefs.

Bild-Zeitung said last month that Glock's Toyota deal is worth more than (US) $7 million.

The newspaper added on Friday that BMW has agreed to dissolve its contractual hold on the driver.
