BMW, Honda, make announcements on Monday

(GMM) BMW-Sauber on Monday announced a replacement for former chief designer Jorg Zander.

39-year-old Swiss Christoph Zimmermann, already head of composite design at the team, will be responsible for the design of the race car as of 1 January 2008 and report to technical director Willy Rampf, the Hinwil based team said in a statement.

"In keeping with our philosophy, we will also replace him internally," team principal Mario Theissen revealed.

Also announced on Monday is that Honda will test promising young drivers Mike Conway, Luca Filippi and Andreas Zuber at the first winter test in Barcelona next month.

"Honda is committed to developing promising young talent in motor sport and we will take this opportunity to have a closer look at three young drivers who have done very well in the GP2 series this year," said sporting director Ron Meadows.

"We will also be evaluating their potential to assist Honda in the future with our testing requirements," he added.
