Alonso says Hamilton win would not be fair

Fernando Alonso says he would be "embarrassed for the sport" if his McLaren teammate Lewis Hamilton won the Formula One world title on a technicality.

McLaren are planning to mount an appeal after stewards at yesterday's Brazilian Grand Prix decided not to punish BMW Sauber and Williams for fuel temperature irregularities.

If the two teams were disqualified from the race, Hamilton would move up from seventh to fourth and would secure enough points to win the Drivers' Championship.

However, Alonso says he doesn't think that would be fair.

"I'm not sure what he (Hamilton) would think," the Spaniard says. "I guess if they give you the title, you don't think it's a present, but rather that you deserve it. He would be delighted."
