Provisional 2008 British F3 Calendar

The provisional 2008 calendar for the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series and Avon Tires British GT Championship has been announced by The Stephane Ratel Organisation (SRO). The season goes green with the traditional Easter weekend season opener at Oulton Park in March and ends with a grandstand finale at Donington Park in October, with some fantastic circuits and locations in between.

The circuits for British F3 remain unchanged from 2007 with visits to all the big UK names, along with the Grand Prix tracks of Monza (Italy), Spa Francorchamps (Belgium) and the street circuit in Romania’s capital Bucharest, supporting the FIA GT Championship.

The British GT calendar next season will see one change in a return to Scotland for the first time since May 2005. Thanks to Knockhill’s enthusiastic promoter and the challenging and diverse nature of the circuit, the Scottish round of the championship will provide a valuable addition to the 2008 championship.

“On the back of such a successful calendar in 2007, it was about keeping a level of consistency for 2008. British F3 visits the same circuits but in a slightly different order, including the final two rounds being at Bucharest and Donington – it should be a spectacular sprint to the finish!" Stephane Ratel of SRO continued, “For British GT we thought Knockhill would set a different challenge to our teams and drivers; it’s a tight and twisty track which we’re sure will provide entertaining racing and some surprises. Knockhill replaces Croft, but with the remainder of the circuits staying the same, we believe there is an excellent all round balance to the calendar."

The Avon Tires British GT Championship will consist of 14 rounds, with Silverstone and Donington Park hosting a 2-hour race and the other six events featuring two 1-hour races over the course of each race weekend.

As in previous years the Lloyds TSB Insurance British F3 International Series will be a 22 round championship with each of the eleven circuits hosting two races.
