Power was not driving

Team Australia wishes to make the following statement regarding driver Will Power.

Power, who returned to Australia this week ahead of the Lexmark Indy 300 on October 18-21, was involved in a VERY MINOR motor vehicle accident on Wednesday 3 October 2007.

Power was a PASSENGER in a car driving to a media appearance on the Gold Coast with a PR representative driving the car. While stopped at traffic lights the car was hit from behind at slow speed by another car.

At the time Power was on a mobile phone conducting a media interview. Power WAS NOT driving the car.

The accident was VERY MINOR and damage to the car was very minimal.

Media reports suggesting that Power was driving the car while on the phone or that the accident was a major one are completely false.

Power and the driver were uninjured in the accident and the pair completed media commitments before Power returned to his hometown of Toowoomba in Queensland later that day to train and rest before the Lexmark Indy 300.
