Australia race to be shown live in USA

Champ Car's Australian event on October 21st will be shown live in the USA at 11:30 PM (EDT) Saturday night, Oct. 20th on ESPN Classic. We originally had this race tape delayed on ESPN2 on our 2007 Champ Car race schedule page. ESPN Classic should ensure that another Champ Car race will get miniscule TV ratings in the USA.

Of course, ESPN Classic has recently (just in the last 4-6 weeks) been moved off of the basic or standard tier of most cable systems in the US, so despite the fact that ESPN execs stood up in front of all Champ Car promoters and race owners in February and promised to treat CCWS just like the IRL, they have failed and Champ Car has failed to hold them to their promises.

One would hope that in 2008 Champ Car gets their race schedule together early enough to avoid races on ESPN Classic. Because they finalize their next schedules so late in the season Champ Car has habitually been forced to take whatever TV inventory is left over.
