Billy Kimmel killed

A sprint car driver died after crashing toward the end of a race Sunday night, track and hospital officials said. Billy Kimmel, 27, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania died after a three-car wreck near the end of the 25-lap race, the Williams Grove Speedway said on its website. The crash happened on the third turn of the half-mile dirt track, on the penultimate lap of the race.

Kimmel was flown to Harrisburg Hospital, where he died around midnight ET, according to Christine Blain, a nursing supervisor at the hospital. Paramedics were performing CPR on Kimmel when he arrived in a helicopter, but they could not revive him, Blain said.
