Champ Car drivers have done well in F1

It's a myth perpetuated by the biased F1 media that Champ Car Champions have not done well in F1. In fact they have done reasonably well as this SPEEDTV.com article points out. The article fails to have a section on Mario Andretti, a Champ Car champion who won the pole in his very first F1 race and went on to become 1978 World Champion. As Sebastien Bourdais prepares to move from Champ Car to F1 next year, albeit with one of the worst teams, let's remember that you won't see is F1 taking a driver from any other American series, especially an oval-centric one like the IRL. It's clear that Champ Car has the best drivers in America by a wide margin and if American drivers like Marco Andretti ever want to make it in F1 they are going to have to hone their road racing skills and prove their worth in the talent-laden Champ Car series or face certain failure abroad.
