Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix Teams Up With Big Boy

The checkered overalls worn famously by Big Boy will take on a checkered flag racing theme over the next several weeks as area Big Boy restaurants are offering diners discount tickets for Saturday activities at the upcoming Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.

Big Boy customers will be able to experience the speed and excitement of both the American Le Mans Series and the IndyCar Series on Grand Prix weekend, August 31-September 2, 2007, by picking up a voucher while supplies last at over 130 Big Boy restaurants throughout the state of Michigan, and in Cleveland and Akron, Ohio only. The vouchers are redeemable for a $5 discount on any Reserved Grandstand ticket for Saturday’s action at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.

“We are proud to be associated with the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix and have the opportunity to give our customers a special offer to see the races in person," said Tony Michaels, Chief Executive Officer of Big Boy. “We believe this will become a signature event for Detroit and the state of Michigan."

The Detroit Sports Car Challenge presented by Bosch will take place on Saturday, September 1 at The Raceway at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, featuring the exotic sports cars of the American Le Mans Series competing on the 2.1-mile island circuit. The American Le Mans Series features both highly-sophisticated, purpose-built prototypes and production-based GT cars, with manufacturers such as Corvette, Ferrari, Audi, Acura, Porsche and Panoz. The series will be making its debut in Michigan on Labor Day weekend. Saturday will also feature practice and qualifying for the high-powered open wheel cars of the IndyCar Series, highlighted by star drivers Danica Patrick, Helio Castroneves, Dario Franchitti, Sam Hornish Jr. and Marco Andretti.

The vouchers can be redeemed at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix Renaissance Center box office in downtown Detroit or through phone order and internet orders.
