Dominguez joins Champ Car 2-seater program

The Champ Car F1x2 Team has now completed six highly successful programs at 2007 Champ Car World Series events, and will feature two exciting additions to its driver line-up for the forthcoming Edmonton and San Jose rounds. Joining F1x2 regular, Zsolt Baumgartner, in Edmonton will be legendary American driver, Mario Andretti, and Champ Car race winner, Mario Dominguez, from Mexico.

Andretti, who is serving as Grand Marshal of the Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton this weekend, is a four-time Champ Car World Series Champion and 1978 Formula One World Champion. He will act as high-speed chauffeur for a select band of VIP guests during the Edmonton race weekend, which marks the final race in the Canadian Triple Crown.

Dominguez finished in the Champ Car top-10 standings every season between 2003 and 2006, and won the 2002 Surfers Paradise race, on Australia’s Gold Coast. He will also drive for the F1x2 Team next weekend in San Jose, substituting for Patrick Friesacher, who has returned to his native Austria for the birth of his daughter.

The F1x2 Team has provided hundreds of passenger rides during the course of the six events in which it has participated this season. With the 2007 edition of the Champ Car World Series reaching its halfway point this weekend, however, and the two-seaters scheduled to appear at a further five events, including Edmonton, in excess of 500 individuals will have experienced the thrill of riding in the 700-horsepower-plus, two-seaters by the end of the year. They will also have enjoyed the most “up-close and personal" view imaginable of Champ Car tracks across the length and breadth of North America.

Among recent passengers in the F1x2 cars were Champ Car World Series Co-owner, Kevin Kalkhoven, Chris Park of Korean corporate giant, Samsung, Annie Arsenault, from Kimberley-Clark Canada, and Latterian Wallace, who describes himself as singer-songwriter Lionel Ritchie’s “manny". As ever with the Champ Car F1x2 program, it appeals to a wide audience and continues to be enthusiastically received by race weekend crowds wherever the cars and drivers appear.
