MIS ’08 Sprint Cup race dates set

NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series, now known as the NEXTEL Cup Series, will return to Michigan International Speedway for two race weekends in 2008. America’s premier motorsports series with the country’s biggest names in auto racing will celebrate 40 seasons of racing at MIS next year on June 15 and Aug. 17.

“We have great momentum heading into the second half of this season and into next year," speedway President Roger Curtis said. “Much of this is largely based on the number of improvements that we made at the facility, the partnerships that we are making with the surrounding communities and at the state level, and in the extensive time we’ve taken to talk to the fans. We’re dedicated to making Michigan International Speedway the premier motorsports venue in the Midwest showcasing the very best in motorsports entertainment."
