Verstappen hands Albers cold farewell

(GMM) Countryman Jos Verstappen has refused to give axed Dutch racer Christijan Albers a fond farewell from formula one.

Verstappen, who last drove in F1 in 2003 with Minardi, has never been friends with the 28-year-old, but he saved his most scathing attack for the week that Albers was handed his marching orders by Spyker.

"Albers must look at himself in the mirror," Verstappen wrote in his column for the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.

"He always blames others for his own mistakes. He has also never had any success during his formula one career, so it doesn't surprise me that the fans were never too bothered about him."

Verstappen, meanwhile, had been provisionally scheduled to conduct a one-off test for Silverstone based Spyker at Spa Francorchamps this week, but the three day session will on Thursday end without him making an appearance.
