Toronto was entertaining, but……
Question: the Toronto Star piece you posted – "Champ Car Wheels Fall Off." Is this the same writer who has found a mission in his miserable life to be bashing Champ Car in Toronto for several years now? Did Paul Tracy by chance steal his girlfriend or something? Werner Fritz, Trevor, Wisconsin
Dear Werner, Yes, entertaining race, but unfortunately the USA TV ratings will again be low because 1) The race was up against the British GP F1 race on network TV, 2) Champ Car still does not have enough big-name American drivers that can draw the Americans to watch. There is no doubt that the level of driver skill in Champ Car far exceeds that of the IRL, but the IRL is beating Champ Car hands down on promoting some of their drivers into household names. The Champ Car race was definitely the better race. Racing is best when it creates apprehension covered with suspense at each corner. Toronto had that the whole way. Dave C.
Another writes, Here in Southern California the Champ Car race had lots of competition for viewers.
F1 on Fox 10:00A.M.
Champ Car on ESPN 10:00A.M.
Angels Baseball on FSNET 10:00A.M.
I have to admit I watched the F1 race on Fox…taped the Champ Car race…followed the baseball game online at the same time. After watching the tape of the Champ Car race it was by far the best…. but the telecast will get low ratings here in So Cal. Scott Anderson
