He's fast, aggressive and hates to lose. Here are some of the incidents that have made Paul Tracy, the Thrill from West Hill, one of the most controversial drivers of his generation.

APRIL 4, 1993 Crashes while leading Phoenix race by two laps as he tries to pass Jimmy Vasser, who denies cutting Tracy off. The good friends still laugh about it today.

AUG. 22, 1993 Wins race at Elkhart Lake despite ankle and neck injuries from crashing into wall during practice.

MAY 14, 1994 Suffers concussion and bruised foot in Indy 500 practice, still races and finishes 25th.

JULY 3, 1995 Suffers broken left foot in go-kart race in Arizona and needs surgery. Six days later, finishes second to Jacques Villeneuve at Elkhart Lake.

JULY 27, 1996 Suffers broken leg in crash during practice at Michigan Speedway.

APRIL 18, 1997 Fined $25,000 for making contact with Greg Moore during Long Beach race.

JUNE 16, 1998 Put on probation for forcing Christian Fittipaldi off the track in June 7 race.

JUNE 20, 1998 Barred from final qualifying in Portland and fined $20,000 after incident with Michel Jourdain.

OCT. 4, 1998 Gets into shouting and pushing match with his boss, owner Barry Green, during Houston race after collision with teammate Dario Franchitti. Tracy and Green fined $5,000.

OCT. 18, 1998 Collides with Michael Andretti in Oct. 18 race at Surfers Paradise. Barred from opening race of 1999 season, a first in CART racing.

NOV. 1, 1998 Four laps from victory and a $1 million payoff, crashes at Marlboro 500. Apologizes to team for "dropping the ball."

OCT. 16, 2001 Three-point deduction and $50,000 fine for unsafe driving and unsportsmanlike conduct after making contact with Helio Castroneves and Tora Takagi in Laguna Seca race. Criticizes steward Chris Kneifel, saying "we'd be better off with a circus clown running the series."

SEPT. 2, 2002 Collides with Dario Franchitti on first lap of Denver race, ending his title-contending teammate's day.

JULY 6, 2003 Fined $15,000 for wearing shorts to a presser in Cleveland.

OCT. 26, 2003 Clinches first Champ Car title.

JUNE 20, 2004 Trades barbs with Alex Tagliani after Tracy complains the Montrealer blocked him in Portland race.

JULY 3, 2004 Tagliani-Tracy heats up after Tagliani touches wheels with Justin Wilson and spins into Tracy, who had the pole, ending his race.

JUNE 26, 2005 Season-long battle with Sebastien Bourdais gets uglier when Frenchman calls Tracy "very selfish on the track" following qualifying in Cleveland.

AUG. 2, 2006 Probation and fine for shoving match with Alex Tagliani after San Jose crash.

AUG. 7, 2006 Crash in Denver knocks him and Bourdais out of race. Loses three points, fined $25,000.

NOV. 12, 2006 Misses season finale after breaking his right shoulder blade in a late-night joyride in a golf cart near Las Vegas.

APRIL 6, 2007 Suffers broken vertebrae when he crashes in Long Beach practice. Misses Houston race, but returns for Portland event where he crashes in first practice.

JUNE 24, 2007 Makes contact with two cars early in Cleveland race, ends up earning his 30th career win and first in two years in a great comeback drive. Wheels.ca
