Humphrey named Talladega President

Rick Humphrey has been named President of Talladega Superspeedway and Grant Lynch has been appointed Senior Vice President of Business Operations for International Speedway Corporation (ISC), speedway officials announced today. Humphrey, who has served as Vice President & General Manager of the 2.66-mile superspeedway since 2002, will assume his duties immediately.

“I am honored International Speedway Corporation has the confidence in me to take on this role and I realize what big shoes I have to fill," said Humphrey. “Talladega Superspeedway has been my home for over a decade and I am confident and committed, along with my entire staff, to continue to preserve the history and success of this facility."

He joined Talladega Superspeedway in 1997 as the director of public relations and also served as director of operations approximately one year before being promoted to his most recent position of Vice President & General Manager.

Humphrey, a native of Jacksonville, N.C., began his motorsports career in 1993 as a public relations representative for the McDonald’s Racing Team and drivers Jimmy Spencer and Hut Stricklin. From 1994 – 1996, he worked for then series sponsor R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company’s Sports Marketing Enterprises as assistant manager.

He received a degree in journalism from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C., where he was a four-year member and letter winner of the college’s baseball team.

Humphrey and his wife, Trisha, reside in Lincoln and have two children, Sam and Caroline.

In addition to Humphrey’s new position, Lynch has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Business Operations for ISC, the parent company of Talladega Superspeedway. Lynch most recently served and President of Talladega Superspeedway and Vice President of ISC, where has held both positions since 1993.
