Kubica gets thumbs-up to race

(GMM) BMW's Robert Kubica on Thursday was passed fit to return to the wheel of his formula one car for the French grand prix.

The Pole sat out the Indianapolis round two weeks ago following his 72-G shunt in Montreal a few days earlier.

"I'm looking forward to this race and happy that I missed only Indianapolis," he said at the Magny Cours circuit after emerging from the medical centre where he underwent a fitness check and giving reporters the thumbs-up.

BMW-Sauber team principal Mario Theissen added: "We are all happy that Robert can sit in the car again."
