Super Aguri fail to overturn Sato penalty

Super Aguri have revealed that despite their best effort, Takuma Sato will incur a ten-place penalty at the French Grand Prix next month.

The Japanese driver was penalized after race stewards at Indianapolis deemed he had overtaken the Honda of Jenson Button whilst under yellow flags following the first corner collision involving David Coulthard and Ralf Schumacher.

However, whilst the stewards were still deliberating the alleged infringement Sato spun out of the race on lap 13 before he had a chance to serve a potential drive-through penalty.

The stewards were then forced to carry the penalty on to the next race in France in two weeks time instead.

Sato however, protested his innocence claiming it had been Button who had passed him. “Jenson was overtaking me," he insisted after spinning out. “It wasn’t a great day for me," he added.
