Honda team demonstrate new tire warming technology

A MotoGP debutant of sorts begins what should be a long stay in the World Championship, with development company Termorace's revolutionary tire warming system being given its first outing in the Konica Minolta Honda garage.

The new design was presented in the Japanese-Italian team’s hospitality on Thursday, and was immediately thrown into action for first free practice session. Giulio Bernardelle from Konica Minolta Honda explained the ins and outs of the new tire warmer to motogp.com after it’s first run-out.

“It’s basically a development of the 2004 system, but now using a completely new electronic system that is able to measure pressure and temperature. Automatically warming the tire to optimum temperature based on the cold pressure, we can understand the correlation better," stated Bernadelle.

“We started to develop this design in 2004, and realized it the year later. Now we will use it throughout the season with the hope of using the system for all of our tires in the final stretch.
