Mazda car recall is largest in automaker’s history

Mazda Motor Corp. said it is recalling 264,276 cars in Japan due to a possible clutch defect. It is Mazda’s largest recall in Japan since the Hiroshima-based automaker began taking recall data in 1994, she said. The company’s previous record recall was for 162,405 vehicles in March 2004.The automaker, Japan’s fifth-largest, said the vehicles that were affected were Demio and Verisa passenger cars built between June 2002 and March 2006.
