NASCAR talking out of two sides of its mouth

It is interesting to note that NASCAR certainly has no issues with AT&T/Cingular sponsoring various pieces of the FOX NASCAR broadcasts, like their "Virtual Crew Chief" segment. Or even having them recognized for being a sponsoring partner of the telecast as approved by NASCAR.

So essentially NASCAR doesn't have any issues with taking money or being supported by AT&T/Cingular, even if they choose not to play ball by NASCAR's rules. So what do you really think that says about NASCAR's argument that their agreement with Nextel/Sprint is "exclusive"?

Bottom line – they filed the lawsuit to make it look like they were sticking up for Nextel, knowing all along they would lose….meaning they get to keep both AT&T and Nextel in the series and feed at both sides of the trough.
