Barrichello’s new ‘black’ helmet

(GMM) Rubens Barrichello emerged from the Honda garage on Saturday with what many observers referred to as a new 'black' helmet.

In fact, the Brazilian has simply followed the lead of BMW's Nick Heidfeld in applying a special-technology coating to his helmet that reveals his usual livery colours as the temperature rises.

But in the cool Monaco rain, Barrichello's helmet stayed almost jet-black throughout the session.

Heidfeld used the innovation in Bahrain and Barcelona, but seems to have reverted to his normal white livery for the Monaco GP after some commentators denounced the look as slightly 'dirty'.

Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan was spotted in the Monaco paddock on Saturday morning.
