Motorola named title sponsor of IndyCar event in Sonoma

Infineon Raceway and Motorola, Inc., have established an alliance that will make the wireless and broadband communications company the title sponsor of the raceway’s IndyCar Series event.

The event, which features the best in open-wheeled racing, will be called the Motorola Indy 300 and will take place Aug. 24-26 in the scenic Sonoma Valley. The alliance continues Motorola’s involvement in the IndyCar Series as the company is also the primary sponsor of the No. 7 car driven by Danica Patrick (Andretti Green Racing).

“The IndyCar race at Infineon Raceway has become an important marketing opportunity for Motorola with our key customers over the past several years," said Kathleen Finato, senior director of North America marketing, Mobile Devices, Motorola, Inc. “The opportunity to serve as title sponsor provides greater opportunities for Motorola to impact our key accounts in a positive way."

The Illinois-based company will have exclusivity during race weekend in the voice communication devices and wireless network categories.

“Motorola has been a strong and active supporter of IndyCar racing and will be a terrific partner for this event," said Steve Page, president and general manager of Infineon Raceway. “We are proud to align with the Motorola brand and with the innovative and quality products that brand represents."

The alliance is for one year, with an option for a second year. Motorola, Inc., is considered the world leader for innovation and leadership in wireless and broadband communications.
