STR to take half year to speed up – Berger
(GMM) Toro Rosso co-owner Gerhard Berger said on Thursday that his team will take some time longer to be fully up to speed.
The Austrian enthused earlier this season that Faenza based STR would catch up with the pace after the first three races of the season.
"I was wrong," the news agency APA quoted Berger as saying in Monaco. "We will probably need another half a year before we can start to match our expectations."
Berger suggested that while sister team Red Bull was making strides forwards with fundamentally the same Adrian Newey-penned car, Toro Rosso is struggling to get to grips with the STR2 because of lagging team infrastructure.
"We are not Minardi any more, where all they did is participate," he explained. "Our expectations now are completely different."
